Wonderful Fried Chicken! Mac and cheese is out of this world. The corn muffin on point. A delicious meal friendly service and it is Affordable.
This family-friendly restaurant is touted to be the best Southern style food in the area. Being an out-of-towner family insisted we give it a try. We sampled several entrees and sides. The standouts; chicken salad, cole slaw, and potato salad. We also tried the fried chicken, beef stew, turkey with dressing, butter beans, greens, mac 'n cheese, sweet potato casserole. Cornbread and yeast rolls were served with the meal. Although, it will fill you up. It's not mama's cookin'. The seasonings seem to be lacking.
First time at Wade’s after hearing many good things about the restaurant. - Clearly the locals know this place well, and the love is obvious; it’s an institution here, woven into the fabric of everyday life. - There was a roughly ten minute wait to get in, on a Monday at about 1:15 pm. The atmosphere was vibrant, with a welcoming small-town vibe. - There was a decent selection for the 4-item plate of sides; I ended up with okra/tomatoes, mac-n-cheese, sweet potato soufflé and speckled butter beans. The soufflé was very good, with plenty of marshmallow. The mac-n-cheese was classic, just like the dish your favorite great aunt takes to church potluck. And the butter beans had a nice umami, I’d guess developed from a long, unhurried preparation with the right mix of spices thrown in. - The apple pie a la mode was a tasty finish. - Service was quick and efficient, but could have been more friendly.
Definitely awesome old school meat and two or three or vegetable plate. Been around for years and definitely worth the drive.
Delicious!!! First trip there, line for seating moved quickly, I had flounder, Mac & cheese, rice & gravy and peach cobbler. Tea was only $1.59, strong and just the way I like it. Can't wait to go back and try the country fried steak with the white gravy and fries green tomatoes on a day they have those choices.
